These are two filmmakers living in Gig Harbor and their documentary is how one woman can affect the lives of many women. You read of their adventures in the Dec. 29, 2010 Gateway. While in Bangladesh Cathy and Len met a woman creating tapestries and teaching other women to do the same....creating hope.
Surayia Rahman began to train young women at the teaching center, sitting on the fl
oor with them and teach them her designs for Nakshi Kantha tapestry, based on a traditional form of embroidery similar to quilting. Poor women who brought their babies with them while they learned and worked. Rahman's goal was to help them raise their standard of living and support her own family as well.
