Remember....Memorial Day!!!

It is a perfect weekend for the Street Scramble.....
And.....

We will all be out walking or running, AND always remembering, with a grateful heart, those who have made sacrifices.....
so that we can be out walking and running enjoying this wonderful country.

And......
Let's just take another opportunity to remember those service folks
and their families for their continued sacrifice...

To all those service families out there....
THANK YOU!!!!!
In memory of all our service people
the quotes this week are from a couple of great military leaders...

Find the art and you will discover which great military leader made this quote famous.

"Kindness is about recognizing another human being who deserves care and respect!"
What great leader made this statement???
Look for this piece of art in a great little place, just across from the park...run by some folks who care and give back a lot to Gig Harbor.
Every piece of art has 2 kindness matters wrist bands, one for you and one for you to give....Memorial Day...a great weekend to give.

"I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of their way and let them have it!"

One of the best things I have purchased recently was from Cooks Whimsey and is a Lily Pad.. it is used and reusable and indispensable for heating in your microwave. Oh, and find this FREE art there to find out who made this quote famous?????
"If you get the dirty end of the stick..
.sharpen it and turn it into a useful tool!"

Yep, this is a favorite quote and wonder what great military leader and patriot made this famous?

Come on down to the street scramble on Saturday, walk the walk and bound to find a little FREE art!!!

"Giving back involves a certain amount of giving up!"

Who said? Where will you find?? What are you going to do with your wrist band?

By the way.....enjoy this public art installation brought to you by the Gig Harbors and the Gig Harbor Arts Commission.....
There are two of them and until they are sold, they are for you to enjoy!!!

"Don't follow anyone who is not going anywhere!"

Wow!! These quotes by these military leaders and applicable to us, every day!!!

"If you associate with eagles...you will learn how to soar to great heights!"

Have fun!!!
Find FREE art!!!

Come on back to the blog and tell us where you found your FREE art and who made the quote famous!!!!

AND

Where ever your footsteps take you this week,
go with great joy
and great kindness to one another!!!

Let's remember Memorial Day!

Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, was officially proclaimed on May 5th, 1868 by General John Logan when flowers were placed on graves at Arlington National Cementary. It was the National Holiday Act of 1971 that ensured a 3 day weekend. What ever happened to the red poppies?
A good time to be thankful for those who have gone, have served and all who are still serving..and their families...
Thank you!

Kitty #4 is now ready for adoption....
where will you find him!!!
Perhaps while you are there, have a little wine, food, great art... and a great view of the harbor. Do hope those cooks at Morso don't cook the kitty!!!
"Kind words are easy to speak, but their echos are truly endless"
Want to see some great photography? Head on over to Morso for an artist reception on 5/27 6-8pm. Ed Kenney from Maine has some amazing photography for you to see. Tommy Tutone at Morso on Sat. 5/28; 8pm call for tickets!!! Click on Morso link for all the news.

Now, here's where to find FREE art this weekend...or until they have been found!
A great BIG welcome to a new participating artist with the Feel Good Free Art Project.....Sandra Erickson. This is a beautiful piece of pottery with a heron inscribed in it.
Better get to UPTOWN now and hurry into that store with lots and lots for your kitchen.....

With all the love we have for our military and families, past and present, how appropriate that Stacey Webber created this LOVE bookmark. Do you know Laureen's favorite bookstore in Gig Harbor? That's where you'll find this one...perhaps to share with a service person or family? Drop in at Forza for Book Nite to discuss "Rhythm of Life" by Matthew Kelly

Need a birthday gift for your best gal pal....or perhaps a great new cut...think downtown....think JAX!! Find Free Art...and a whole lot more!

We are so luck to live in the beautiful little town..Here's one of the reasons why.....This gorgeous photo by Mark Ritchie....another reason why is because we have a great museum.....Both together..go there!
If you miss Mark's photo at the History Museum, then check out Ebb Tide Gallery cause that is where you will find more of Mark's beautiful photography!!

Here are the clues: Downtown Gig Harbor, the perfect place for a Wild Bird art card......this one is easy, and Becci Crowe is the wonderful artist who has created this art cards. Now, if her art card is gone from that Wild Bird place, just head on over to Ebb Tide Gallery...find Becci's work there!!!

Where ever you go; what ever you do; do with gusto and remember next weekend is Maritime Gig Weekend. Parade, entertainment, art walk....and much MORE!!!
