Kitties, Pandas and Art Walk, oh my!

It's getting warmer with more sun...

Panda Bears in Federal Way
Now, if you are a fan of the Panda Bear, did you know they are almost extinct? Well, one of our participating artists is also an adventure Artist. Becci Crowe is presenting The Giant Pandas of China on April 10th at the Center Stage Theatre in Federal Way. This presentation will be an extraordinary journey featuring behind the scenes film footage with the Pandas and global efforts to save them from the brink of extinction. A must see program for you....and for children alike.

Saturday is artwalk in Gig Harbor. When you are out walking there are a couple of new businesses you might want to walk on into.....might find a little FREE art!!!
So, it is April and can the Easter Bunny be far behind? If you are quick, you might find a little FREE art bunny at Kit's. This bunny is a glycee print by Kathy Thurston....if you miss this at Kit's then check the Ebb Tide Gallery round the corner. BUT...before you go anywhere, check out the great jewelry in Kit's. Mother's Day will be here soon!

Have you been into Jigamagig yet???? Big things come in small packages...small store, great local made craft art. New to the harbor, so go visit and while you are there, find this beautiful little original painting by Joan Sein...read more about Joan below!

Water's Edge Gallery and Framery. Stop in there and you will find this really, cute and useful mini key basket. You can hang a couple of keys or put something in the basket. Gig Harbor Arts Center?
Peninsula Art League President, Ann Knapp has set up an on-line petition to gather signatures in support of the creation of an Arts Center to serve the greater Gig Harbor Peninsula area. The Center would provide space for meetings, performances, art exhibits, concerts, rehearsals and classes, workshops, storage and administrative offices for all visual and performing arts organizations in the greater Gig Harbor Peninsula region.

By now you might realize the FGFAProject went on vacation to Hawaii in February.
While on Kaua'i we meet and exchanged art with a wonderful artist, Dorina San Augustine (read more about her on 2/12/old blog) This is the wonderful necklace that Dornia donated to our Free Art Project in Gig Harbor. Her husband is a Ukulele maker and the large round piece of Koa wood is the leftover from the hole in the Ukulele. The small dark ebony is left over from a fret with a Abalone shell as the turtle. Find this one at Kit's.
While at Kit's be sure to take a peak at that special Mali African garnet.

Another wonderful, new artist this week....Pat is from St. Augustine, Fl. When you touch this one you'll know it is from recycled and repurposed material.....guess what the material is?

When in Ebb Tide Gallery be sure to see Sherry's beautiful and functional baskets and Elaine's beautiful artwork. They are the featured artists and probably on hand to talk with.

Meet Sherri Bails. You will find Sherri's "Colors of my Life" watercolors being exhibited at Morso Wine through March 2011. Sherri is a member of the Women Painters of Washington; Seattle CoArt; American Watercolor Society; and earned status as a Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor Society.
